By His resurrection, He destroyed the power of sin and lends us strength to become His loyal subjects. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. With anxiety on the rise, the Apostle Paul’s call to “rejoice always” seems all but unobtainable. While there are many helpful ways to cope with society’s increasing anxiety, Paul points us to a frequently overlooked source of joy and peace, God’s grace in Christ. Next Sunday on the Lutheran Hour (December 2nd, 2018) Advent 1
“Redeemer with a Capital R” (Ruth 3-4) Lutheran Hour Speaker: Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler
When people use the word “redeem” outside of religious context, they tend to use it in a commercial sense-redeeming points from purchases or casino tokens for cash. Jesus has done more than pay our points. He redeems us by bringing us into his clan, his people, his household, that we might be with him forever. Yesterday our November Jumbo Tron message came down: “Jesus took all our pain so that we might have all the gain”. Though it is down may that truth show forth through us to each other and others (friends, coworkers, neighbours) daily. And please continue to pray that those who see the JT messages will be tweaked in some why by the Spirit. May non-believers ask who this Jesus really is and why he would die for us, and believes rejoice in the Jesus who lived perfectly, died horribly and lives again to guide us daily. EUTHANASIA DOCUMENTARY
Tomorrow evening November 26th from 6:30 – 8:30pm all are invited to gather at Evergreen Community Church (101 Tundra Dr.) as we (TLC) host the community to watch and discuss a documentary entitled The Euthanasia Deception. Canadian law now says it’s legal for various groups of Canadians to enlist the help of a physician to kill them. That is a far cry from the Hippocratic Oath all physicians swear too when they become doctors. And above all that what does God have to say about our taking lives that do not belong to us? Come watch, listen, share and care for those others who come.

NEW – FREE LHM COURSES!!! LHM’s latest course is entitled Spiritual Conversations in the Digital Age. It explores how and why people share the unchanging Good News in our digital age. Check it out @ www.lhm.org/learn

Next Sunday on the Lutheran Hour (December 2nd, 2018) Advent 1
“Reality Therapy” Speaker: Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler (Ruth 1-2)
The book of Ruth deals with unimportant people and unimportant matters, but deals with them in such a way as to show that God is active in ordinary lives-like yours and mine. Ruth’s story became an important part of the story of Jesus. Listening to God’s work in her life can rescue us from dead end delusions and bring us into what is most real-a Jesus-centered reality. Today we thank the Lord for Life as we celebrate this Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. May we each rejoice in life in good times and in hard because we are the Lord’s and he has us in every single situation in life and desires to mold and shape us by them all!
Last Sunday we had our scheduled Voter’s mtg. Please note that we have a mtg. set for Saturday, February 10th (TBA) at Brayall’s to hear from both Sun Life Financial and TD Bank representatives about investing the monies from the sale of the church building downtown. Please plan to attend! Also our next Voter’s mtg. has been set for February 25th after worship.
How goes your daily reading through the Bible. If you are having troubles with keeping at it please speak to Pastor and allow me to encourage you.
Please pray for our young confirmands who have begun to study Holy Communion, God’s incredible Meal of forgiveness and therefore strength to live the lives he has bought back for us to live for him.
Have any ideas for a few service opportunities in the community? Please bring the forward.
On Sunday Feb 18th, the weekend of the Alberta Winter Games, we will not have access to the Casman Center for worship. We are planning to have worship at the Haberstock’s home (hoping to be fully in our home by then) in the late aft or early eve. TBA.
Every Sunday the Lutheran is heard over the airwaves here in Fort McMurray. Next Sunday’s message is entitled: “Cause I Said So” from Mark 1:21-28. Many have pretended to be the Messiah. In next week’s text, Jesus authority is recognized and obeyed by His competition. Hear this inspirational message on 91.1 FM The Bridge at 8am. Jan 7th, 2018
On New Year’s Day we began our three year journey together of reading through the Bible. I invite each of us to daily use our website www.trintiylcfm.org and at the Daily Slice tab find and rejoice in our reading God’s Word as a family. As we read please share comments and questions with each other so we might grow in the only thing that makes us (and others) wise unto salvation.
Please mark Jan 14th on your calendar. After worship on the 14th we will have our next Voter’s mtg.
We are looking for opportunities to serve the community together. If you have ideas please bring them forward. The Alberta Winter Games are fast approaching. Some of us are serving in various respects during the games. If you are able to volunteer for the opening ceremony please let Pastor know and we will see if we can work it out to assist at that event. At the moment two families are interested.
On Sunday Feb 18th, the weekend of the games, we will not have access to the Casman Center for worship. We are planning to have worship at the Haberstock’s home (hoping to be fully in our home by then) in the late aft or early eve. TBA.
